Matte Paint Protection Film

Matte PPF Melbourne

Matte paint has one hard rule: you can never polish it. Every scratch that would buff out of a gloss car is permanent on a matte finish, and a respray is the only fix. That makes film less of an upgrade and more of a requirement, and satin films like Stealth and STEK DYNOmatt protect the paint while keeping the flat look true. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888 to talk through your finish.

Why Matte Needs Film

Polishing works by levelling clear coat until it shines, which is exactly what you cannot do to a matte finish. On matte paint there is no repair step between damage and respray, so a sacrificial film layer is the only protection with teeth. You will find the same detail for Tesla and EV protection.

Sheen Matching

Factory matte finishes vary between satin and near flat, and a film with the wrong gloss level is obvious across a whole panel. We check the film sheen against your actual paint in workshop light before committing a full wrap, not after. You will find the same detail for the Tesla Model S and supercar protection.

The Films We Use

STEK DYNOmatt is the satin version of the gloss film we fit daily. It self-heal light scuffs with warmth, resist staining and carry the same ten year warranty against yellowing and cracking as their gloss siblings. The same work is set out for the Porsche 911 and Ferrari.

Full Body Matte

Edge to edge coverage is the honest recommendation for factory matte cars, because a half filmed matte panel can show a sheen step where the film ends. Every painted surface wrapped takes about a week in the workshop. We have written the same guidance for the BMW M cars and Mercedes.

Front End Only

Bonnet, bumper, guards and mirrors in satin film for matte cars that mostly commute. Stone strikes land on the nose, so this covers the highest risk zone first, and the wrap lines are placed on panel edges where sheen change cannot be seen. Most owners add window tinting in the same visit while the car is already in the bay. Separate guides cover Audi and Toyota.

Gloss Car, Satin Look

Stealth over gloss paint turns the whole car satin while protecting it, a finish change that reverses cleanly when the film comes off. If you are weighing that against colour options, our colour transformation page covers the wrap side.

Washing Matte Film

No wax, no polish, no cutting compounds, ever. A pH neutral shampoo and the two bucket method keep satin film clean, and drying with a soft towel avoids shiny pressure marks. The full routine is on our aftercare page.

Part Of Our PPF Service

Matte film installs run through the same precut process as our clear work: patterns plotted for your model, edges wrapped, no blades near paint. Coverage options and film details sit on the main paint protection film page.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

Can you put PPF on matte paint?

Yes, that is exactly what satin films exist for. Satin films like STEK DYNOmatt are engineered to sit on factory matte paint and preserve the flat look while adding a protective layer.

Will the film change how my matte paint looks?

A correctly matched satin film reads the same as the paint from normal viewing distance. We compare sheen on your car before wrapping, because matte finishes vary between manufacturers.

How long does matte PPF last?

The films we fit are warranted for ten years against yellowing and cracking. With sensible washing they stay consistent for that period. Damaged sections can be replaced individually rather than rewrapping the car.

Can I wax a matte wrapped car?

No. Wax and polish add gloss, which ruins the finish you paid for. Satin film only needs pH neutral washing, which is genuinely less work than maintaining gloss paint.

Can matte film be removed safely?

Yes. Professional removal leaves factory paint untouched, which is the point: the film takes years of wear, comes off and the original matte finish underneath has never been touched.
