Tesla Paint Protection Melbourne

Tesla Paint Protection in Melbourne

Tesla builds a quick car with delicate paint. The factory moved to water based paint years ago and the soft, thin clear coat that came with it chips earlier than most, especially in Pearl White and Solid Black. A Model 3 that commutes the Monash picks up stone damage in months, not years.

Liquid R protects Teslas from our Mitcham workshop: paint protection film, ceramic coating and window tint for Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, as part of our full paint protection range.

If your car is still at the delivery centre, that is the best timing there is. Film bonds best on paint that has never seen a highway, so book the slot before you collect the car and drive it straight here on day one.

Why Tesla Paint Chips Easily

Tesla uses water based, low VOC paint and the result is a thin, soft finish by industry standards. Owners notice it first on the front bar and bonnet after a few months on Melbourne freeways. Pearl White and Solid Black show the damage most, and factory touch up options are limited.

Tesla PPF: Built for the Front End

Paint protection film is a clear urethane layer with a self healing top coat: swirls and light scratches disappear with heat. On Teslas the popular coverage is the full front, taking in the bar, bonnet, guards, mirrors and headlights, which is where nearly all stone damage lands. Our paint protection film page covers the films we install and the warranty behind them.

Tesla Ceramic Coating: What It Does

A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and adds gloss, chemical resistance and a surface dirt struggles to stick to, so the car washes faster and stays cleaner between washes. What it does not do is stop stone chips. On a Tesla the strong combination is film on the impact zones and ceramic coating over the rest, one budget below full body film.

New Tesla? Protect It Before First Drive

Film bonds best on paint that has never been driven, brush washed or repaired. Booking before delivery means the car arrives with zero road kilometres on the panels, and we photograph any delivery day paint defects before covering them. Collecting a Zeekr instead? The same pre-delivery timing applies. Our new car protection packages start at $1090 and bundle film, coating and tint at package pricing.

Full Front or Full Body

The full front suits a Melbourne commuter: it covers the panels that take the hits for roughly a third of the cost of wrapping the whole car. Full body suits a keeper, a dark colour, or a car that has to present perfectly at resale. The sorting question is how long you plan to own it.

Stealth: the Matte Tesla

Tesla does not sell a matte finish, and film is how owners get one. Matte paint protection film turns any gloss colour satin while adding the same stone chip protection as clear film, and it is removable, so the factory paint underneath stays untouched. If you want a different colour rather than a satin version of the same one, that is a colour transformation, a separate service with its own materials. Finishes and coverage options are on our matte PPF page.

Model 3

The low nose and flat bonnet angle put more of the Model 3 in the stone strike zone than most sedans, and the door edges mark early in tight car parks. Our Model 3 paint protection page sets out coverage levels for Highland and earlier builds.

Model Y

Australia’s best selling EV is also the Tesla we see most. Family duty is hard on a car: door edges, boot sills and seat backs wear before the paint chips do. The Model Y package page covers film, coating and interior options sized for how these cars actually get used.

Model S and Model X

The big Teslas carry larger panels, higher repaint costs and, on the X, falcon doors you do not want a shopping trolley anywhere near. We quote S and X work individually by model year and colour rather than off a menu. Call 1800 985 880 and we will price it while you are on the phone.

Tesla Window Tinting for the Glass Roof

Model 3 and Model Y run a full glass roof as standard. The factory glass filters UV well but lets heat through, which Melbourne summers make obvious. Ceramic window tinting drops the cabin heat load without touching visibility, and the same appointment can bring the side glass to legal VLT.

White Seats and Road Film

Regenerative braking means less brake dust on the wheels, but road film builds on an EV like any other car. The white interior has its own issue: dye transfer from dark denim stains the seat bolsters, and it sets if it is left. Our detailing services cover interior protection and correction alongside the paint side. Interior care steps are on our aftercare page.

Warranty, Cameras and Charging

Film and coatings do not void Tesla’s new vehicle warranty. Australian Consumer Law is clear on that, and Tesla’s warranty terms exclude damage caused by a modification, not the modification itself. Patterns are precision cut around the Autopilot cameras, parking sensors and charge port, with dedicated patches for the charge port surround and door handle cups, the two spots every Tesla scratches first.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

Is Tesla paint really softer than other cars?

Softer and thinner is the consistent workshop experience, and it lines up with Tesla’s move to water based paint. We see Teslas with front end chips at ages where most Japanese and German cars are still clean. White and black finishes show it most.

Will PPF or a ceramic coating void my Tesla warranty?

No. Applying film or a coating does not affect the new vehicle warranty. Tesla could only decline a claim for damage a modification actually caused, and professionally installed film does not damage paint. Our own workmanship warranty covers the installation itself.

How much does Tesla paint protection cost?

It depends on the model, the colour and how much of the car you cover. New car packages start at $1090. Full front and full body film are quoted by model, and the quote is fixed before the car is booked in.

When should I book after taking delivery?

Before delivery, ideally. Drive the car from the delivery centre straight to Mitcham and the film goes on paint that has never seen a highway. If you have had the car a while it still works; the panels just get a decontamination and inspection first.

Does film interfere with Autopilot cameras or sensors?

No. Patterns are cut around every camera, sensor and the charge port, so nothing is covered that should not be. Sentry Mode, Autopilot and the parking sensors behave exactly as before.

What is a stealth or matte Tesla wrap?

Matte paint protection film applied over the factory gloss paint. The car reads as factory matte, the paint underneath stays protected and unmarked, and the film can come off years later for resale. It is the most requested look on Model Y and Model 3.
