3M Window Tinting Melbourne
3M Car Window Tinting in Melbourne
3M window film can only be sold and fitted by licensed 3M installers, and Liquid R is one. Every tint job here is done in-house at Mitcham by our own installers, never outsourced, and every film carries 3M’s lifetime warranty against colour change, bubbling and peeling. The same bays tint everything from daily drivers to supercars.
Three film series cover the range: Color Stable from $495, Ceramic IR from $595 and Crystalline from $750. Each gets its own card below so you can pick on facts rather than shade.
The fact most people miss: darkness and heat rejection are separate things. Victorian law caps how dark you can go, but film technology decides how cool the cabin gets, and the best 3M films beat dark cheap tint while staying lighter.

Color Stable: From $495
The entry point to genuine 3M film, built on nano-carbon polyester that never turns purple, the failure that defines cheap tint. It rejects up to 57% of total solar energy and 99% of UV, comes in shades up to the legal limit, and carries the same lifetime warranty as the dearer films. For most cars, the family Toyota included, this is the sweet spot.
Ceramic IR: From $595
Nano-ceramic particles absorb infrared heat specifically, the part of sunlight you feel on your skin. The result is noticeably better cabin comfort at the same shade, UV protection to roughly SPF 1000, and a metal-free construction that cannot corrode and cannot interfere with electronics. The step up commuters feel every summer afternoon. It is a natural fit for a dark BMW M2, M3 or M4.
Crystalline: From $750
3M’s flagship stacks over 200 optical layers in a film thinner than a sticky note. That construction rejects up to 97% of infrared heat and 60% of total solar energy while staying almost clear, which makes it the answer for drivers who want the coolest cabin with the lightest look, or where the factory glass is already tinted, as it often is on a new Mercedes.
Dark Does Not Mean Cool
Shade blocks light you see; heat arrives mostly as infrared you feel. A bargain dark tint can let more heat through than a light Crystalline film. Victorian law caps side glass at 35% visible light transmission anyway, so the real performance choice is film technology within that limit, not how black the glass looks.
Fitted to VicRoads Rules
Why 3M Accreditation Matters
3M does not sell its automotive films to general workshops. Accreditation means trained installers, genuine film stock and a warranty 3M itself stands behind, registered to your car. The certificate is also proof at resale that the tint is the real thing and covered for the next owner. On a car like a Porsche 911, buyers check exactly that.
A Warranty Measured in Decades
Glass Roofs and Sunroofs
Panoramic glass roofs turn cabins into greenhouses, and most factory glass blocks UV but not heat. Dedicated 3M films for roof glass cut that heat load without changing the car’s look from outside. EV owners feel this one most, which is why roof tint features on our Tesla page.
Privacy and a Cooler Interior
Darker shades keep eyes off child seats and laptops, and every shade protects the cabin itself: UV is what cracks dashboards and fades leather. Tint is cheap insurance for an interior, and it pairs naturally with the leather protection in our detailing work.
In-House, Usually Same Day
Tinting is done in our own bays by our own people, and a standard car, your typical Ford or Mazda, is normally in and out the same day. Because the work stays in-house, the schedule holds and the warranty has one name on it. Fresh film needs a few days before windows go down, and we will remind you.
Tint as Part of a Package
Most tint jobs here ride along with bigger protection work: 3M Color Stable is built into our new car packages from Pack 3 up, and tint slots neatly into a booking that already includes film or coating. One drop-off, everything done.

Having just bought a brand new Tesla Model 3, I booked it in with Liquid R and after discussing with Jacky elected for a Ceramic Coating and window Tint. Jacky was very helpful and obliging. He also agreed to fit some new mud flaps i ordered for the car. I took delivery of my new car and drove it straight to Liquid R. 2 days later i picked up the car and am extremely happy with the result. Bobby was very helpful too…

Jacky and the team have been super helpful with my cars. I got our Land Cruiser bush wrapped/clear wrapped here a year ago plus tinted windows. Amazing job and Jacky/Bobby helped me understand my window tinting choices. I’m a car sprayer by trade so appreciate the attention to detail in all there work. On that note the work shop is bright and immaculate. 100% recommended and great pricing.

Jacky is the most patient, honest and passionate professional. He was so willing to share his expertise – even when I didn’t appear to be anything other than a researcher! He was far from where I live but I chose him because he gave me quality for a competitive price right from the outset and he did not try and deter me from going to my local company.

Car tinted done. The Xpel XR plus film is definitely better than other films (3M or Suntek) for the heat rejection. The staffs (Jacky and Bobby) were very nice (10/10). Little hiccup but Jacky making sure everything is…

The team here at Liquid R did such an amazing job on my car. They have made the car look brand new. They were even able to bring the shine back to my front wheels, which I have struggled to do myself. I know I'll definitely be back when I need another detail and to make the car look like new. There really isn't a better team to deal…

2 years on and our ceramic coat is still looking fantastic, and our high end window tint has been performing better than I imagined. Jacky's advice is invaluable, and LiquidR's ability to accommodate special requests has been hugely helpful. Thanks Guys!

Hey there! So, you've been eyeing up that ceramic-coated shine for your ride, right? Well, let me tell you about my experience at Liquid R. It took a bit of patience to snag a spot – a couple of months, to be exact – but boy, was it worth the wait! At first, I admit, I had my doubts. But as soon as I saw the finished job, any hesitation melted away like snow in the Aussie sun.

Side and rear glass must let through at least 35% of visible light, with limited exceptions behind the driver on some vehicles. We fit the darkest legal shade by default, so you get the maximum look without a defect notice at the next roadworthy.
Colour change, bubbling, peeling and delamination, for as long as you own the vehicle, backed by 3M and registered through us as the installer. Bring the car back if anything looks wrong and the fix is on the warranty, not on you.
Only the visor band at the top is permitted in Victoria, and we fit within that rule. For heat through the windscreen, clear films like Crystalline do the work without shading vision, staying fully legal for the glass ahead of the driver.
The film needs a few days to cure to the glass, longer in cold weather. Put windows down early and the edge can lift, so we tape a reminder and give you the exact timing for the season when you collect the car.
If you park outside or commute in summer, usually yes: the infrared rejection is the difference you feel getting into the car at 5pm. For a garaged car driven at night, Color Stable does the job and saves the difference.
