Car Detailing Melbourne

Car Detailing in Melbourne

Detailing is not a car wash with a bigger invoice. It is decontamination, staged machine correction and interior restoration done under proper lights, by people who know how much clear coat a modern car can spare. That last part matters more than any product name.

We run three package levels so a Toyota family SUVs and a weekend coupe like a Porsche 911 can each buy what they actually need, and every job is inspected with you before the keys go back.

Detailing is also where paint protection starts: corrected paint is what a coating or film should be sealing, which is why the protection range and this page are two halves of one job.

Exterior Detailing

Full decontamination, then staged machine paint correction to cut back swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation before polishing to a deep gloss. This is the detail that changes how the paint reads in daylight, not a wash with a fancy name.

Interior Detailing

Seats out where needed, carpets and mats extracted, leather cleaned and fed, vents and switchgear detailed by brush. Sunscreen film on plastics and coffee in the console both come out. The cabin leaves smelling like nothing, which is the goal.

PPF Refresh Package

For cars already wearing film. We wash the film with DFA Surface Cleaner from Defcon Films Australia, lift mineral marks with a dedicated water spot remover, then reseal the film so it looks and beads like the week it went on. Edges are inspected and lifted corners reset.

Defcon Crystal Shield

EV glass roof heat and impact protection. A clear film layer for panoramic roofs that cuts cabin heat and adds a strike face against stone hits, fitted without touching the headliner. Popular on Tesla and other glass roof EVs.

Detailing Is Not a Car Wash

A wash removes what is loose. Detailing removes what has bonded: iron particles from rail lines and brake dust, tar, tree sap, water minerals baked in by summer. That is chemical and physical decontamination, done panel by panel before any machine touches the car. Only then can you see what the paint really looks like.

Staged Paint Correction

We start with the lightest cut that shows results, map the defects that are deeper, and work only those spots harder before refining everything back to gloss. Blanket-cutting a whole panel to chase two scratches is how paint gets thin, and thin paint is a problem no polish fixes. Correction is quoted after inspection, never sight unseen. That discipline matters double on a supercar.

Swirls, Water Spots, Sun Damage

Melbourne paint collects a particular set of scars: wash swirls from brush car washes, mineral rings from watering systems and summer rain, oxidised patches where UV has had years to work, and the fine scratches of a hundred car park doors. Deep colours like a Mazda in Soul Red Crystal show every one of them. Each has its own correction approach, and most look far worse than they are.

Leather and Fabric Protection

After the clean we can protect: Gtechniq L1 for leather, I1 for fabric. Both slow how fast liquid soaks in, which turns a coffee incident from a stain into a wipe. On light interiors it is the difference between denim dye setting permanently and coming off at the next clean. Light Mercedes leather is the classic case.

Wheels and Calipers, Coated

Wheels are the dirtiest job on the car and the first thing people stop cleaning. A high-temperature ceramic wheel coating changes that: brake dust stops bonding to the barrel and rinses off instead of needing acid and a brush. Performance cars like the BMW M2, M3 and M4 benefit most. Calipers get the same treatment, and the whole assembly stays presentable between details.

Selling the Car? Detail It First

Buyers price what they see. A corrected, deep-cleaned car photographs better, shows better and negotiates better, and the detail usually costs less than the first price drop a tired-looking car takes. Tell us it is a sale prep and we will spend the effort where inspection eyes go first.

After Correction, Seal the Work

Freshly corrected paint is bare and vulnerable, so protect it while it is perfect: a ceramic coating to lock in the gloss, or film on the panels that take impacts. Correcting without sealing is paying twice for the same finish.

Keeping It Detailed

The fastest way to waste a detail is a brush car wash on the way home. We hand over a simple routine: pH neutral shampoo, two buckets, microfibre dry, and booster products matched to whatever protection is on the car. Follow it and the next detail is a top-up rather than a rescue. Questions live on our FAQ page. Between-visit care lives on our aftercare page.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

Will detailing remove scratches?

Swirls and shallow scratches polish out completely. A scratch you can catch a fingernail in is through the clear coat and needs paint, not polish, and we will tell you which is which at inspection rather than promise the impossible.

How long does a full detail take?

A maintenance detail is typically a day. Correction work runs one to three days depending on paint condition and how far you want to take it. We would rather hold the car an extra morning than hand back a panel that was rushed under the lights.

Is detailing worth it before selling?

Almost always. Presentation is the cheapest value you can add to a used car: the detail typically costs less than the first haggle a shabby car invites, and listing photos of corrected paint pull more enquiries. We do sale-prep details to a deadline regularly.

What is included in each package?

Basic: decontamination wash and interior clean. Deluxe: everything in Basic plus machine polish and interior protection. Premium: multi-stage correction and protection on every surface, inside and out. Exact inclusions are confirmed on your quote, based on the car in front of us.

Can you detail just the interior?

Yes. Interior-only bookings are common for family cars and airport runners: full extraction, leather care, odour treatment and optional fabric or leather protection. You do not have to buy an exterior package to get the cabin sorted.

How often should a car be detailed?

A protected, sensibly washed car needs a maintenance detail once or twice a year. Unprotected daily drivers parked outside benefit from more. The honest schedule depends on where the car lives and how it is washed, and we will suggest one rather than a subscription.
