SUV Paint Protection

SUV Paint Protection in Melbourne

The SUV is the default Australian family car, and it lives a harder life than its paint deserves: school run traffic, shopping centre car parks, weekends on gravel. The panels are bigger, the bonnet sits tall in the stone zone and the boot lip gets loaded daily. At our Mitcham workshop we fit paint protection film, ceramic coating and window tinting to every make and model of SUV on the market. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888 for a firm quote.

Full Front PPF

An SUV bonnet is broad, flat and tall, so it faces highway spray square on instead of deflecting it. Full fronts from $1980 cover bonnet, bumper, guards and mirrors in self-healing film, and the extra panel area is exactly why we quote each SUV individually rather than off a sedan price list.

Car Park Armour

Most SUV damage is not the open road, it is the shopping centre: trolley strikes on the rear quarter, door edges tapped on pillars, handle cups scratched by rings and keys. Door edge guards, handle cup film and a rear bumper protector cost little and save the panels that get inspected hardest at trade-in.

Boot Lip and Tailgate

Prams, flat packs, dog crates and eskies all cross the same painted lip. Once it is scratched through, the only real fix is a respray. A clear film patch over the loading edge takes minutes to fit, disappears from a metre away and turns that daily scraping into a non event.

Ceramic Coating for Big Panels

More paint means more washing, and that is where an SUV earns a ceramic coating. Packages from $980 include decontamination and machine polish before the coating goes down, so road film rinses off a Sunday wash instead of needing a full afternoon. Graphene options are available for owners chasing longer service life.

Family Interiors and Tint

Kids ride in the back, and the back glass is where the sun comes in. Metal free window tint in Victorian legal shades blocks over 99 percent of UV, keeps the cabin cooler at pickup time and protects the trim from fading. Interior fabric and leather protection can be added while the car is in.

SUVs We See Every Week

Toyota RAV4s and Prados, Mazda CX-5s, Hyundai Tucsons, Kia Sorentos, Subaru Outbacks and the Tesla Model Y all come through the bays, alongside everything else on our make and model list.

Cladding, Trim and Roof Racks

Unpainted plastic cladding goes chalky years before the paint fails, and roof rack feet wear their mounting points shiny. We coat exterior trim during detailing so it stays dark, and we fit clear film under rack feet and crossbar mounts before they ever touch the roof.

New SUV Protection Packages

The best time to protect an SUV is the week it is delivered. Our new car protection packages run from $1090 to $4090 and combine decontamination, coating, interior protection, tint and partial film in one booking, with aftercare guidance so the finish holds. The same logic applies whether you drive an SUV, a ute or a wagon.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

Does SUV paint protection cost more than a sedan?

Usually yes, because there is simply more panel. Film is priced by coverage and coating by surface area, so a Prado costs more to protect than a Corolla. We quote from photos or an inspection, never off a generic list.

Should film go on before or after roof racks are fitted?

Before. Film needs clean bare paint to bond, and rack feet clamp hardest exactly where wear happens. Fit the film first and the racks clamp onto film instead of paint.

Can you protect the unpainted plastic cladding?

Yes. Cladding is coated with a dedicated trim product during detailing so it keeps its dark finish instead of fading grey. Paint film is not used on raw textured plastic because it will not bond properly.

Is the boot lip film visible?

From normal viewing distance, no. It is the same optically clear film used on the body, cut to the lip shape with edges wrapped, and it can be removed later without damaging the paint.

How long does a full front on an SUV take?

Around two days in the workshop. Larger panels take more film handling time, and we would rather hold the car overnight than rush edges that need to stay stuck for ten years.
